After years of delays the US Senate passed a new 2-year federal transportation funding bill with bipartisan support today. The existing funding for transportation expires at the end of March. A transportation bill in the House has been delayed in part to due to strong objections at its treatment of transit funding. The House can now either pass the Senate bill by March 31st or both the House and Senate will have to pass another extension to the current funding to avoid a shut down of the Department of Transportation.
